The technique

Every course begins with a consultation and patch test to confirm the correct settings for your skin tone and hair type. At each session, the handpiece is passed steadily over the area while the integrated cooling keeps the skin surface comfortable. Sessions range from around 15 minutes for a small area such as the upper lip to an hour for larger areas like full legs.

Aftercare

Skin may look slightly pink for a few hours, similar to gentle sun exposure. Keep the area cool and moisturised, avoid hot baths, saunas, swimming and intense exercise for 24 to 48 hours, and use SPF on treated areas that see daylight. Between sessions, shave rather than wax or pluck, as the follicle must be present for the laser to work.

Who this treatment may not suit

Laser hair removal is not carried out during pregnancy, over tattoos, or where there is an active skin infection in the area. Certain medical conditions, photosensitising medications and a history of keloid scarring can also affect suitability, and recently tanned skin may need time to settle first.
